One Appointment Crowns

Precision Crafted and Naturally Coloured Dental Crowns

Getting a dental crown in Victoria doesn’t have to be a big hassle.

In just one appointment, your dentist will create a precision-made porcelain crown. Using our advanced equipment your dentist will measure, design, manufacture, and bond your new crown in only one appointment!

The CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) System is what makes one appointment crowns possible. The dentist is able to use the CAD/CAM software to digitally design and create your crown on the spot. You will see an image of what your crown will look like before it is made.

Most crowns are made of naturally coloured procelain. Dental porcelain is a very durable material that can be matched to your other teeth. Your new dental crown will look and feel normal in your mouth and provide you the confidence to smile!

What is a Dental Crown and When Do You Need One?

A dental crown is essentially an artificial cap on your tooth. A crown is used to restore a damaged tooth or for cosmetic purposes.

A dental crown is very effective at protecting your tooth from further damage.

Variations of dental crowns may also be used with implants, bridges, root canals, or other prosthodontics.

Here are some of the situations in which you may need a crown:

  • Chipped, cracked, or damaged tooth
  • Decayed tooth (may also require a root canal)
  • Replace a deep filling
  • With implants and other restorative dentistry
  • For cosmetic reasons

Your crown will usually last for 10 years or longer. Take good care of them, like regular brushing and flossing, to prolong their life. And just like your natural teeth, try not to bite down on hard objects or foods.

Cosmetic Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns can also be used for cosmetic purposes. They are effective at closing gaps, aligning teeth, and simply adding some character to your smile.

Usually we use the naturally coloured and durable porcelain crowns. But if you prefer the appearance of an alternative material, like gold, just let us know! You should consult with the dentist about your material preference. There are options available to you.

In some cosmetic dental crown procedures you may be required to come in for more than one appointment.

The One Appointment Dental Crown Procedure at Oak Street Dental

Here is how most patients’ dental crown procedures go:

  1. Your dentist will take precise measurements of the tooth being crowned with a special, radiation-free, camera. No impressions needed!
  2. Watch on-screen as your dentist designs the perfect fit for your mouth using a 3D computer model (CAD/CAM).
  3. In just a few minutes, your crown is created in the high-precision CEREC machine.
  4. A local anesthetic is gently applied. Freezing reversal is available so you can get back to your day even faster.
  5. The tooth is prepared for the dental crown. Damaged areas are removed.
  6. Your new crown is permanently bonded into place giving you a long-lasting smile for years to come!

The whole procedure takes approximately 2 hours. Appointment length will vary by patient and scenario.
