Express Yourself with a Stunning Smile
Get a noticeable improvement to the appearance of your smile with cosmetic fillings or veneers.
Do you have:
- Chipped or broken teeth?
- Gaps between your teeth?
- Crooked teeth that can’t be corrected with Invisalign®?
- Stained or discoloured teeth?
- Cavities on the front of your teeth?
If so, dental cosmetic fillings or veneers may be the affordable solution for you. This popular treatment can make a big difference in your smile and confidence.
Cosmetic fillings and porcelain veneers make your teeth look better by changing their spacing, shape, colour, or angle. Dental build ups & veneers are used for both medical and cosmetic reasons.
Cosmetic Fillings (Composite Build-Ups)
Cosmetic Fillings are also known as dental build-ups, bonded restoration, bonding, or composite veneers.
The cosmetic fillings procedure involves the dentist using a composite dental resin to repair or modify a tooth. The composite resin is like a special dental glue that looks natural and matches the colour of your other teeth. Your dentist will carefully fill in chips, cracks, gaps, and other teeth spacing over the course of your dental build ups treatment. Cosmetic Fillings are very effective, affordable, and safe.
A special light is used to dry and harden the composite resin into a durable material. If you have ever experienced dental fillings, the composite build up procedure is very similar (except, unlike fillings, you rarely need dental freezing!).
Dental build-ups are well-covered by most dental insurance plans. In fact, most standard dental insurance plans will cover anywhere from 50% – 80% of the costs. It is not considered an extended dental procedure.
You should always practice good oral care to prevent damage to cosmetic fillings; however, they are easy for your dentist to repair should they get chipped.

Porcelain Dental Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a thin shell that covers the entire front surface of your tooth. They are made out of tooth-coloured porcelain and are custom designed for your teeth by a dental lab. Your dentist will take careful measurements of your teeth, prepare the tooth, and then permanently attach the veneer.
Porcelain veneers are very strong and do not easily take damage. Of course, you should still take proper care like regular brushing and flossing.
Porcelain veneers are often considered an extended dental procedure and may not be covered by all dental insurance plans. The staff are happy to check your coverage and provide cost quotes.
When it comes to choosing between cosmetic fillings or porcelain veneers, our dentists will assist you in making an informed decision. Oak Street Dental has dentists who perform both procedures.
